VeloHacky needs to communicate with your bike to change its settings. That does not mean your ride should become somebody else’s data product.
Purchases
Apple or Google processes in-app payments and may provide VeloHacky with limited purchase information, such as the product identifier, transaction status, and entitlement state. We use that information to unlock and restore paid features. We do not receive your full payment-card details. The store’s own privacy policy governs its payment processing.
Bike settings
Speed, assistance, cadence, lighting, display, and sound settings are exchanged directly with your compatible Veloretti over Bluetooth. These settings are used to provide the controls you choose in the app.
Bluetooth access
VeloHacky requires Bluetooth permission to discover and connect to your bike. Keep your phone near the bike while applying a setting or uploading a sound.
Location and rides
When location permission is granted, VeloHacky uses the phone’s approximate current location to obtain a nearby place name and local weather for the bike display. Coordinates are sent to the MET Norway Weather API for this request. VeloHacky refreshes this information periodically while the app is active and connected to the bike; it does not build a ride history or sell location data.
Weather data is provided by MET Norway.
Custom sounds
Audio you select is processed so it can be transferred to your bike. Do not upload audio you do not have permission to use.
Anonymous product analytics
VeloHacky records a limited set of product events to understand whether the app works and which features are useful. These events can include the app platform and version, screens opened, bike connection success, paywall and purchase outcomes, selected speed modes, and completed custom-sound uploads.
Analytics events do not include an account identifier, advertising identifier, bike serial number, Bluetooth identifier, precise location, ride history, or the audio you select. We do not use this information for advertising or sell it to third parties.
Website data
This website may receive routine technical information required to deliver a webpage, such as an IP address, browser type, and request time. It is not used to build advertising profiles.
